Widely
billed as one of Italy’s best-kept secrets, Le Marche
awaits discovery from Casa Giulia, a totally renovated old
farmhouse with a 10x5m pool and stunning views of the surrounding
countryside. The house is situated on a ‘white road’,
between the medieval hill towns of Penna San Giovanni and
Gualdo. Macerata is the nearest larger city. Le Marche lies
next door to Umbria, with the Adriatic Sea to the east and
the Apennine Mountains to the west.
Getting
there:
Ryanair has daily flights from London Stanstead to Ancona,
and Casa Giulia is just over an hour’s drive. They also
have daily flights to Pescara, which is two hours away. Rome
and Bologna are a three-hour drive. For those bringing their
own cars, the journey can be done in about a day and a half
from London.
