| Casa
Giulia
This
lovely old farmhouse was completely re-done in 2003, combining
the best of the old with the unashamedly new, in terms of
bathrooms, pool, central heating etc. Situated at 350 metres,
the setting is stunning with spectacular views on every
side. To the east, the sun rises over the hill town of Penna
San Giovanni, to the south lies Monte San Martino at 603
metres, while you can watch the sun set over the Sibillini
mountains at over 2,400 metres to the west. The house sleeps
6 with 2 double/twin rooms and 1 twin, so can comfortably
accommodate families or groups of friends/couples. There
is a sofa-bed in the sitting room so the accommodation can
stretch to 8 people. Floors throughout the house are beautifully
tiled in dusky local terracotta and all the ceilings have
exposed beams.

Just stock up at the supermarket and spend the

The slightly more active: Numerous walks/mountain bike rides
surround the house and the area is so wooded that you might
even stumble across some porcini mushrooms to grill on the
barbecue that night.
The
active sightseer:
Hill towns galore, extensive Roman ruins at Falerone and
Urbis Salvia, monasteries, major works of art in regional
capital Urbino and Assisi less than two hours away, serious
sightseers will not be disappointed.
Nature
lovers:
With the Sibillini National Park just 30 minutes
away, nature lovers and particularly bird-watchers are in
for a treat. In fact, you don’t even have to go that
far, as birds of prey regularly circle overhead. Springtime
sees the mountains carpeted in wild flowers.
Beach/ski
bums:
Casa Giulia is just 35kms from miles of Adriatic sands while
in winter, the ski slopes are just 30 minutes away. What
better way to unwind over a long winter weekend than to
spend a few hours on the slopes and come back to a crackling
log fire? Ryanair flights in winter can be as little as
£1 each way, making a grand total of £24 return
including all taxes etc. |
